RYAN, Peter Sylvester – Age 71, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish he was the son of the late Gardiner and Catherine (McNamara) Ryan.
Peter always had an eye out for old cars and could be seen driving around roadside pickup. He enjoyed playing bingo and driving the countryside looking for treasures, not junk. He was Poppy to everyone.
Peter is survived by the love of his life of 42 years, Mary Sullivan, his children, Danny Ryan (Michelle), Joey Ryan (Nancy); siblings, Junior Ryan (Wanda), Mary Davis (Raymond), Edna Hogg (Garnet), Marilyn Horgan (Tim), Ann Ryan (Robert), Bernadette Clarkson (Sean). Peter is also survived by Mary’s children, Louise Bissonnette (Bruce), Robbie Bissonnette (Charmaine); chosen daughters, Kimmie Harpell, Karla Bagley and her children, Brooke, Bagley, Harlee Dobson, along with Brooke’s children, Ela and Wren; grandchildren, Harvey Snow, Michael Ryan, Joey Ryan, Katie Ryan, Tyson MacEachern and Jordan Bissonnette; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Glen Cass, Wade MacDougall, Wilson Embree, Francis MacEachern, Terry Izzard and Bucky Richards. He was predeceased by sisters, Priscilla Ryan, Anita Roberts; brothers, Johnny and Gerard.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Memorial donations in Peter’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
