Paul Roy
The family announces with great sorrow and heavy hearts his passing at the Timmins and District Hospital on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the age of 60 years after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Florian Roy and Lillian Latta, his dear daughter Amy McKay and his brother James Roy. Beloved spouse of Johanna Coderre. Cherished father of James McKay (Kara Williston). Proud grandfather of Ally Rocheleau and baby McKay (due to arrive in July 2023). Dear brother of Dave Roy. Also left to mourn are his parents-in-law Robert Coderre (Linda Coderre) and Julie Béland-Coderre. His sister-in-law Caroline Coderre (Tyler Caron), his step brothers/sister in law James Carrière, Junior Carrière (Sylvie Vallière), Tanya Sawinski (Tyler Sawinski). He will be sadly missed by his nieces Ellie Caron, Kayla Roy, nephew Jessy Roy and best friend Rob Robinette. He will also be deeply missed by many aunts, uncles and other family members and dear friends, including his vast mining family.
Paul will be remembered as an easy-going man with a humorous personality. He devoted the majority of his life to underground mining and was a proud hard-working man. Paul was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed four wheeling, camping, fishing and adventuring with his boat. He mostly enjoyed spending his summer mornings sipping coffee and watching hummingbirds and in the evenings sitting around a fire in the backyard of his home, which he called his paradise. Furthermore, he will be remembered for his love of hockey.
Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. As per his wishes, cremation will take place and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
