Obituary of Patricia Christabel Guthrie
Guthrie, Patricia Christabel “Pat” (nee Raffan)
July 13, 1938 – January 15, 2023
Surrounded by her family, Pat passed away on January 15, 2023 at the age of 84. Devoted wife to Bill for 60 years. Loving Mum to April Guthrie (Clarke Code), and Graeme (Joanne). Cherished Grandma to Matthew (Aley), Emma, and Chelsea. Loving sister to Eileen (John Kitson), and aunt to Sheona (Clive Colloff), and Rachel (Jon Friend).
During her early working life, Pat trained for and worked in the family shoe business, “Raffan’s”. Pat emigrated from Scotland in 1975 with her husband and children, making Canada her home. Pat enjoyed playing golf, and scoring a Hole in One being one of her accomplishments. She also enjoyed travelling the world with family and friends, especially cruising. As an avid Scottish Country Dancer, Pat performed in both Niagara and Quinte Areas.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Ralph Gilbert, and the staff of 10 Eaton South at the Toronto General Hospital. Thanks also to the staff of 3A at the St. Catharines Hospital who cared for her in her final days. We would also like to thank the staff at the Royal Henley, including “Dr. J”.
In keeping with Pat’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 2pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Celiac Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or UHN Foundation would be appreciated by Pat’s family.
