Carriere, Oscar (1951-2023)
We are sad to announce the death of Oscar Maurice Carriere, who passed away in his sleep on July 13th 2023 at the age of 72 years. He bravely fought cancer for over the last two years. Loving father of Diane Desormeaux-Wright (James) of Winnipeg, Rodger Desormeaux (Monique) of Timmins, Marc Carrière (Julie) of Timmins and Gilles Carrière (Sylvie) also of Timmins. Cherished grandfather of Dusty, Jesse, Jacob, Annie, Roger, Sam, Zack, Marcel and Jesse as well as many great grandchildren and his little dog Lucky. He is predeceased by his wife Denise Quesnel, his parents Oscar and Noella Carriere, his brothers Laurent Carriere, Alphonse Carriere, his sisters Diane Patneau and Muriel Guertin, as well as his granddaughter Tia Johnston (daughter of Rodger and Monique).
Oscar “Ozzy” Carriere was a man with many passions. He was an avid outdoorsman, a music lover and a dedicated worker. If he wasn’t camping, fishing, listening to everything from country to heavy rock, he would be laughing and joking with his friends at the Post Office.
Oscar worked for the Post Office in various forms. He started his 30 plus years with the post office by delivering packages within the city of Timmins, then delivering packages from Moonbean to Foleyet and Chapleau. The only thing that was bigger than his passions was his heart. Oscar would drop everything to help anybody. His laugh was infectious and smile could light up a room. He will be sadly missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from the Chapel of Miron-Wilson Funeral Home (Deacon Michel Néron officiating). Remembrance donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. C’est avec grande tristesse que la famille annonce le décès d’Oscar Maurice Carriere dans son sommeil, le 13 juillet, 2023 à l’âge de 72 ans. Il a connu une lutte courageuse contre le cancer pendant deux ans. Il est le cher père de Diane Desormeaux-Wright (James) de Winnipeg, Rodger Desormeaux (Monique) de Timmins, Marc Carriere (Julie) de Timmins et de Gilles Carriere (Sylvie) également de Timmins. Il est le grand-père bien aimé de Dusty, Jesse, Jacob, Annie, Roger, Sam, Zack, Marcel et Jesse ainsi qu’à plusieurs arrière petits enfants. Il est prédécédé par sa femme Denise Quesnel, ses parents Oscar et Noella Carriere, ses frères Laurent Carriere et Alphonse Carriere, ses soeurs Diane Patneau et Muriel Guertin, ainsi que sa petite-fille Tia Johnston (fille de Rodger et Monique).
Oscar “Ozzy” Carriere est un homme qui était passionné par la nature, la musique et son travail. S’il n’était pas au camping, à la pêche ou à l’écoute de tous les genres de musique, il était avec ses amis au bureau de poste. Il a œuvré au bureau de poste pendant plus de 30 ans en livrant des paquets dans la ville de Timmins et ensuite en livrant de la ville de Moonbeam à Foleyet et Chapleau. La seule chose plus grande que sa passion pour la nature, la musique et son travail est la grandeur de son cœur. Oscar lâche tout pour venir en aide à son prochain. Son rire est contagieux et son sourire est charmant. Il sera terriblement manqué par plusieurs.
Le service commémoratif aura lieu le jeudi 20 juillet 2023 à 14h en la chapelle du Salon Funéraire Miron-Wilson (Diacre Michel Néron officiant.)
