Mildred’s Obituary
Mildred Hutchings (Patey), originally from River of Ponds, passed away peacefully surrounded by love, after a brief battle with cancer.
Gone before her, her parents Roston and Grace Patey, mother and father in-law Myrtle and Max Hutchings, sister in law Kathleen Patey and niece Delphine Patey.
Leaving to mourn her loving husband David and three daughters, Rhea, Heather, and Lindsi, and her pride and joy, her grandson Louie, who she lovingly called King Louie. She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters, Carl, Lomon, Wilf, Roy, Melvin, Mae, Marina, and Daphne, as well as many nieces and nephews and sister and brother in laws.
Mildred was a warm, caring, and devoted wife, mother, and nana. She took care of those around her with sound advice, a good hug, and many declivous meals and treats. She loved to go on adventures and spent a great deal of time hiking, camping, and traveling, but her favorite activity was always walking shallow bay beach looking for sea glass with her family.
Mildred was an active community member. She was a member of the ACW, sang on the choir, and served on the heritage committee. Mildred is described as being dependable and always willing to lend a hand. She had a strong work ethic and a kind heart.
She leaves a giant hole in many hearts and will be missed beyond measure.
We would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the palliative unit at Western Long Term Care Home.
Celebration of life to be held on Friday, September 15th,2023 at 2:00pm at St.Mary’s the Virgin Anglican Church in Cow Head, with Rev. Terry Rose officiating, followed by a gathering in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers donations’ can be made to the Cow Head ACW.
