Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, of the late Mary Nora Curtis announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit in her 88th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Mildred Colford (Larry), Maxine Blackler (Fred), Peter Curtis (Audrey), Patsy Curtis (Rob), Marg Pike (Paul) Glenn Curtis (Donna), Bill Curtis (Liz), Ralph Curtis (Cora), Jackie Noseworthy, and Dennis Curtis (Tracey); her 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters: Loretta Duffy (John), and Jeanette Duffy (Johnny); and sister-in-law: Callista Eldridge; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Nora is predeceased by her husband: Patrick Curtis; parents: William and Margaret Eldridge; brothers: William and Ralph Eldridge; sister: Lorraine Ryan; parents-in-law: Peter and Clara Curtis; and her son-in-law: Bern Noseworthy.
At Nora’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation held at Country Haven Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 from the hours of 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, from where the funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 6th, 2023 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Benoit’s Cove, NL with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at the Old Roman Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Lohnes Complex for their exceptional care of Nora, Dr. Lafferty and the Palliative Care Team, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for all of their kindness and compassion shown during this difficult time.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or a donation can be made in Nora’s memory to WMRH Palliative Care Unit, Cuddle Bed project.
