Marlene Elizabeth Hines (Hall) died peacefully on July 29th, 2023, as a result of a major stroke. She was originally from Burlington and was born at home in 1939.
She was the loving wife of Paul for 61 wonderful years. She was the caring mother of two sons and leaves Chris of Oakville, his wife Linda, grandchildren Andrew of Whistler BC, Ashley of Oakville, and Stephanie of Toronto. Son Jeff from Calgary, his wife Ann, and grandchildren Dakota of Calgary and Sommer of Vancouver BC.
Marlene was pre-deceased by her parents, Bill and Edna Hall of Burlington, a brother Grant (Joyce) of Burlington and a sister Marie (Findlay) of Strathroy. She was close to her many nieces and nephews and also had a special relationship with her nephew Fin Temple (Jane) of Sarnia.
Brothers and Sisters in law were also extremely important to Marlene, and she enjoyed many years of family events with Raymond and Edna of Ottawa (deceased), Doug and Jo of Brantford, Mauri and Sarah of Brighton, and Danny and Janis of Calgary. She was also fond of their many family members.
Marlene had a passion for many activities including golf, bridge, skiing, travel, walks with friends, reading and sewing. In her early Chatham days, she also enjoyed curling, tennis, and group exercises. The one constant in her many hobbies and passions revolved around her close girl friends, of which she had many.
She also had a charitable heart, was a member of the Chatham Maycourt Club for 50+ years and delivered food for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Throughout our 61 years, she was an amazing chef and created many tasty healthy meals, she was a wonderful homemaker, a part time teacher, and excelled at raising our two sons, always with love, patience, and kindness. She loved family and felt much loved in return.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life that will be held on Thursday August 10th, 2023, with visiting from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, Chatham, 519-352-2710. Reflections will be shared by the family at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow from 2 to 4 pm. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation, Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, or charity of choice.
