It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Marjorie, 16 days after celebrating her 100th birthday at Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie.
She was born in Niagara Falls and spent her school years in Fort Erie before coming back to the falls to raise her family. She is survived by her sons Larry (Barb) Reece, Douglas (Betty) Reece, Rick (Sandy) Reece, daughter in law Jutta Reece and step son Allan McAninch. Predeceased by her parents Levi and Edith Candlish, sisters Lillias Buchanan, Ethel McClean, Alma Ruch, brother Alexander Candlish, husband John R. McAninch (2007) and son Robert Reece (2014). She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was an avid golfer, bowler, and dart player. Mother was also the life of the party and loved to dance. Her rendition of “Birth of the Blues” is still fondly remembered and will never be forgotten by her sons.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie for taking such good and professional care of mother during her 4 month stay.
