Marion’s Obituary
POTHIER, Marion Frances- 95, Little River, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born August 10,1927 in Melbourne, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Saulnier) Harrington. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Marion occasionally ventured into the workplace but dedicated most of her life as a stay-at-home mom and devoted grandmother. Her compassion for life was great and faith was strong. She was such a kind and caring soul whose family and close friends meant everything to her. She was lovingly known to her grandchildren and to most who came to know her as Grom. Marion was a social butterfly and always had a smile. She enjoyed watching her hummingbirds every year, cultivating her small little garden, was always the first in the car for a shopping trip or travel. When you visited, she was either on the phone talking with friends or with a crossword puzzle book in hand. She will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, John Pothier. Surviving are her children, Ernest (Joanne) Pothier, Lower Wedgeport; Eleanor (Reigh) Crosby, Little River; Leona (George) Smith, Upper Wedgeport; grandchildren, Michelle, Dale, Melissa, Krista, Jeremy, Paul Jr., Adam, Jessie, Johnnie, Cassandra, Brent, Sarrah, and Marcie, as well as several great grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sons, Mitchell and Paul; as well as a granddaughter in infancy, Samantha; brothers, Edward, Raymond, Michael; sisters, Mae, Eva, Georgina, Mabel, Cecile, Katherine, Mary, and Nettie.
Visitation will take place this Thursday, May 4 at Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth from 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will take place Friday, May 5 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at parish cemetery. The family would like to send heartfelt thanks to Dr. Webster, VON, Continuing Care, and Yarmouth Physiotherapy. A special thank you to neighbors Carl and Norman for their help taking care of the snow removal in winter and whipper snipping in the summer. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the parish cemetery fund.
