It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marilyn Johnson on November 24th, 2022, in Goodyear, Arizona, at the age of 72.
Marilyn was born March 8th, 1950, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, to parents Robert and Mary Rusnak. In 1969, Marilyn met Stephen Johnson during his first Air Force posting to Portage La Prairie. They married in 1970 and began their military life together, moving from province to province with their daughters Kimberly and Katherine throughout the years.
Marilyn had recently retired in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and was enjoying her golden years. She had a passion for travel, loved baking, was famous for her perogies; enjoyed volunteering at races, spending time with friends and family, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by her daughters, Kimberly Lebrun and Katherine Dodge, her sons-in-law Brandon Lebrun and Colin Dodge, her grandchildren Daniel and Joshua Lebrun, Avery and Abigail Dodge, and siblings Dorothy McPherson, Nick Rusnak, Michael Rusnak, Carol Strecker, and Nancy Mehkary.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Rusnak, husband Stephen Johnson, sister Diane Broekema, brothers, Johnny, Ron, Fred and Walter Rusnak and grandson Dilan Lebrun.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the medical team at Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Arizona for their kindness, compassion, and exceptional care of our mom.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 10, at 1pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
