Obituary
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Frances Ferguson, loving wife of the late Delphis Ferguson, which occurred in her 86th year on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born 1937 in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late John and Frances (Carlgren) Johnson.
Marie loved her family and friends and hosted many get-togethers over the years. She had a special way of making these gatherings feel like magical reunions, where relatives and friends would come together to create lasting memories. These included our yearly Christmas Exchanges, Summer Potlucks, Volleyball and Softball games, and dancing in the backyard. The love and laughter during these get-togethers will forever be cherished.
Marie’s involvement in yard sales and flea markets went beyond just the buying and selling of goods; it was a way for her to connect with people and share her passion. She made friends with fellow vendors and customers alike during her many years at Rhoda’s Flea Market and selling privately from her home.
Marie possessed a remarkable gift – the ability to make every person she encountered feel genuinely special and valued. Her innate kindness and genuine interest in others shone through in every interaction leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
Marie is survived by her daughters Janet Ritchie, Betty-Ann Lewell (Rob) and sons Robert, Michael (Joane) and Douglas Ferguson. Grandchildren, Jennifer Ritchie, Scott Ritchie, Crystal Gardner, Stephanie Smith, Nicholas and Tony Ferguson, Tom Simoneau, Jessica and Alex Ferguson and several great grandchildren.
In addition to Delphis and her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John Lars Johnson in 2017, her brother Robert who drowned at the age of 6 in 1946 along with her special friends Hazel Connell, Doreen McKee and Kay Doucet.
She is also survived by her loving companion Ozzie Saulnier and some wonderful friends Eleanor Cusack, Dorothy Gordon, Joanne and Billy Tattersol, Marie Oulette and Joanne Hatfield.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Monday, September 11th, 2023 between 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 12th at 11 AM from St. Ann’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
