ARMSTRONG, Margaret Mae
1941 – 2023
Margaret Mae Armstrong of Red Deer, Alberta passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023 at the age of 81 years.
Maggie was born December 14, 1941 in Okotoks, Alberta. She was the chosen daughter of Earle and Mary Brinton of Okotoks, Alberta. Earle worked in the oilfield, and as a family they lived and traveled to several parts of the world.
Maggie married the love of her life, Jack Armstrong and together they moved to a farm where they tried their hands at farming. Eventually they moved to Red Deer, where Maggie worked in an office. In her 40’s, she decided to go back to school to obtain a teaching degree. She traveled to Calgary every week and returned home on weekends. Upon graduating, she first taught at Eastview Junior High, and later at Red Deer College where she taught English. It was a dream come true, with her love of books and reading and the English language.
Maggie loved to travel and visited such places as England, Italy, Spain and Mexico. She liked to tour and learn about different cultures.
Maggie was passionate about recovery and sponsored many women. She was an inspiration to everyone.
Maggie was predeceased by both parents, beloved husband Jack Armstrong and nephew Danny Brinton.
She is lovingly remembered by daughter Sheila (Tim) Fairbank, grandchildren Emily and Jonathan Fairbank, all Black Creek, British Columbia, brother Bruce Brinton of Red Deer, Alberta. Stepchildren Jody Armstrong and Susan Armstrong of Okotoks, Alberta; best friend of 60 years Mary Kay Robert of Innisfail, Alberta; and her special girls Cindy, Elaine, Dawn and Linda of Red Deer, Alberta.
