Allen, Margaret Eileen
Passed away peacefully on Saturday April 15th, 2023 at Mulcaster Mews Retirement Residence, Barrie in her 91st year.
Born in West Hill to Wilfrid and Ethel Dunbar August 18th, 1932 Margaret was one of seven children and is predeceased by her brothers Jack, Melville, Mick, Harold, Bob and Howard.
Margaret was the loving wife of James William Knill married in 1951 until his sudden death in January 1965. Margaret raised her two daughters with the help of her mother and was employed at Shulton the manufacturer of “Old Spice” personal hygiene products. In 1971 she remarried Robert John Allen and remained happily married for thirty-three years until his passing in 2004. She was a beloved mother to the late Donna (Ken MacCaskill) and Debra (Norm Sampson) Cherished Grandmother to Jim (Ailene) Julie and Lucas.
Margaret was a longtime resident of Collingwood living at the same residence for over 45 years. She enjoyed life, especially being together with her family and will be deeply missed. She was a strong, independent woman with deep devotion to her Catholic Faith, a wonderful cook with a great sense of humour and well known at the local Circle K playing Nevada tickets.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. If desired a donation to The War Amps, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Collingwood Legion, Branch #63 would be appreciated by her family.
