Bathurst – It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Louis Hachey, husband of Vera (Smith) Hachey of Salmon Beach which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 67.
Born in Bathurst, he was the son of Bertha Imbeault and the late Alexis Hachey.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his son: Robert “Robbie” (Paige) of Salmon Beach and two granddaughters: Adaline and Josephine.
Two brothers: Jean-Pierre “Peter” (Debbie) of Salmon Beach and Richard (Michelle) of Nova Scotia. One sister: Lynn Noel (Dave) of Nigadoo. Brother In-Law: Ken Arbeau (Lynn) of Moncton, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Arbeau.
During his lifetime, Louis was employed as an industrial mechanic at Smurfit Stone Paper Mill in Bathurst as well as Brunswick Mines. He was also a member of the Millwright and Carpenters Construction Local and worked in various locations throughout New Brunswick. In recent years he was employed by Coastal Harvesters at Miller Brook Warf in Salmon Beach.
Some of his favourite interests were moose hunting, camping, fishing, spending time at his camp in the woods, and tormenting his best buddies. He also loved spending time with his dogs who were dear to his heart. Louis also had a sweet tooth. It was not uncommon for him to eat a whole apple pie for breakfast.
Louis was very proud of his son, loved his granddaughters more than they will ever know, but no one will ever mean more to him than his “femme”. His family will make sure that his memory is kept alive through stories and family photos.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Janeville Fire Hall on Saturday May 13th, 2023, from 2pm-4pm. Everyone is welcome to come and share stories, laughs and memories.
Donations in memory of Louis may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com).
