Obituary
With great sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt, Lillian Violet Skewes (nee Foster), on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023. Lillian was born in Hastings, Sus, England and immigrated to Canada in May 1945 as a young war bride and has been a longtime resident of Waterdown. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert of 47 years. She was a devoted Mother to Beverley (Gary predeceased), Wendy (Hugh), Roberta (Rick) and Karen and Grandmother to Jacqueline (Andrew), Amanda (Colin), Robert (predeceased), Kimberly (Christopher), Jeffrey, Melinda (Michael), Catherine (Sebastian) and Emily and Great Grandmother to Mackenzie, Cameron, Milo, Piers, Huntleigh, Zoey, Maizie and Charleigh and her very special grandson Colin and Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Lillian always enjoyed a party and she was recently overjoyed to celebrate her 100th birthday with a party with many family and friends. Lillian was always ready to join any activity, especially when there was music and singing and she could always be heard singing above the crowd. Lillian was also very proud to be a longtime active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 551, Waterdown Ladies Auxiliary and recently received a 30-year service pin.
As per Lillian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at Woodlands Cemetery, where she will be interned with her husband, Robert.
The Family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Nathalie Desbois for her caring and compassionate care to our Mother and our Family during this difficult time and to Alexander Place, Waterdown, her home for the past seven years and the support of our many extended family and friends.
