Lillian Coulter
Lillian (Lynn) Coulter, (nee Murray), passed peacefully in her 96th year, June 14th, 2023 at Kemptville Retirement Living Home, surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late James (Jim) R. Coulter of Belfast, loving mother to Linda (Howard) and Ian (Leslie). She will be profoundly missed by her grandchildren Vicki, Tammy, Donnie (Katalina) and Sara (Cole), and her great- grandchildren Abby and Lauren. Lillian will be fondly remembered by family, friends and associates for her determination, love and her no nonsense attitude. Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, she and Jim emigrated to Canada in 1956. Lillian worked at the Ottawa courthouse where her acute decision-making and leadership led to her eventual appointment of the first Senior Justice for Eastern Ontario. Respected by police departments, lawyers and judges alike, Lillian blazed a trail and set the example of professionalism for those who followed. After her retirement, the city of Ottawa recognized her outstanding contributions by naming a street in her honour, in Barrhaven. Friends may visit the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Tuesday June 20th from 10 a.m. until Service time in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to the Kemptville District Hospital Foundation at www.kdhfoundation.ca .
