Leah’s Obituary
Leah Mae Budden, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born, November 14th, 1935 in Baytona (Birchy Bay North) to William and Rebecca Lewis.
On June 16th, 1953 she married the love of her life, George Budden. Together they were blessed with 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls.
A true homemaker and known for being the heart and soul of “the garden.” Leah could usually be found in her kitchen, kneading loaves of bread while keeping a watchful eye over “the youngsters” through her kitchen window. If not there, you’d find her sitting on the corner of the couch, with her knitting needles in hand. After raising 11 children down in the garden, Leah was not a fan of the quiet, and jumped at every opportunity to enjoy the musical talents of her loving family.
An enthusiastic member of the Salvation Army Home League and a faithful church goer, Leah always managed to find her way over to Birchy Bay for Sunday service.
Leah was predeceased by her husband, George Budden; her parents, William and Rebecca Lewis; siblings, Andrew, Wilfred, Simon, Samuel and Phoebe (Raymond); sister in law, Juanita Lewis; son in law, Terry Morgan.
She leaves behind fond memories to be cherished by her children, Ezekiel (Linda), Wayne (Pauline), Marilyn (Eric), Barbara, Raymond (Carolyn), Elvis (Karen), Garland (Natasha), Darlene (Joe), Tracey (Todd), Jamie (Lisa), and Brian; 24 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; siblings, Lindsey (Pearl), Cyril (Eileen), Gerald, Lorraine, Marie, Mavis (Button); in laws, Elizabeth, Olive, Ivy, Hilda; special friend and sister in law Grace; as well as a large circle of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Baytona Anglican Church on Friday, September 15th, 2023 from 2-5PM and 7-9PM.
Please join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 2PM from the Birchy Bay Salvation Army Church. Interment to follow from the Baytona Salvation Army Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leah’s memory to the Baytona Salvation Army Cemetery or the Baytona Fire Department.
