Cooper, Kenneth John –
A loving husband, father, grandfather (Cuddy), brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many; Kenneth J. Cooper died at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 after a valiant battle with three different types of cancer.
Ken Cooper, of Wasaga Beach, was born in Bretford, near Rugby, Warwickshire, England on February 18, 1945. He married the love of his life Christine Cooper (nee Ingram) on February 27, 1965 after having dated for four years prior and together they emigrated to Canada on October 30, 1967.
Ken worked for Bristol Sidley in Coventry, England, Haywood Gordon in Canada, spending 20 years working for McDonnell Douglas (later called Boeing) in Mississauga and approximately three years for Opal Manufacturing, also in Mississauga. He loved to travel, making trips to visit family in New Zealand three times and England multiple times. He would have loved to travel to the seaside of England again, but due to his health, was not able to. Fishing, UFOlogy, models, airplanes, cooking and experimenting with food are just a few of the things he loved to do and will be remembered for.
Ken leaves behind his beloved wife Chris, his children Colin Cooper (Cheryl) and Michelle “Shelly” Cooper (Mark), his grandchildren Brandon Robbins, Candace Cooper, Dylan Stanley (Jasmine), Ryan McIlhargey, Jarod McIlhargey and Zachary “Zach” Anderson. Dear brother in law of Joan and her family, Gill (Gary) and her family, he will be lovingly remembered by Aunt Joyce and many cousins overseas.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at the Collingwood Legion, 490 Ontario Street, Collingwood on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ken to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
