Obituary
On Monday afternoon June 26, 2023, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Jeltje Jetske known as Jellie, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 74 years old after a two year battle with cancer. She was born in Groningen, the Netherlands on October 11 th , 1948 to Trijntje Jansma and Klaas Kooistra. She was the 11 th of 12 children. Julie was very musically talented and played 7 different instruments. Her main love was playing the organ. She volunteered most of her life playing organ during church services and other occasions. Mom loved God, people and was passionate about Israel. Mom was creative in many ways; performing, gardening, home renovations, and sowing to name a few. On May 10 th , 1974 she married the love of her life Kor, started dairy farming together with Kor and they were blessed with four children. They remained on the Bouwman family farm until the 26 th of June 1996 when the family emigrated to Canada and settled in Ponoka. They continued farming until 2003 and then moved off the farm but remained in the country until Kor’s passing. In 2017 Mom moved to town and enjoyed life visiting family, friends and neighbours around Ponoka.
Julie will be greatly missed by her four children: Klarence Bouwman (Mychal) and their children, Zakary, Anneka, Nathaneal, Markus, Arik, Joziah of Fort Vermilion; Cathy Haagsma (Cornelis) and their children Cayleigh (Austin and great-granddaughter Lyndee), Cassidi, and Cameron of Ponoka; Margreet Dijkstra (Sipke) and their children Sharissa, Randall and Amber of Ponoka; and Elizabeth Harkema (Ferdinand) and children Hunter, Denver, Silver and Summer of Ponoka. Julie will be missed by the Kooistra family, the Bouwman family, and many friends.
The Memorial Service will be held at the Sonrise Christian Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. The service will be livestream broadcast. The video link will be located below.
