It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother Joséphine (Vienneau) Lavigne, wife of the late Alphonse Lavigne, formerly of Bathurst, which occurred in Québec City on February 16th 2023 at the age of 96.
Born in Bathurst, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Vienneau and Anna Haché. She had lived in Québec City since 2010.
She is survived by her children: Roger Lavigne (Margaret), Diane Cormier (Réjean) and Suzanne Lavigne (Marc) all of Bathurst, Gérald Lavigne (Yvonne) of Dieppe, Patricia Lavigne of Québec and Jason Lavigne (Sonya) of Moncton.
She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren: Monique Belliveau, Nadia Cormier, Philippe Cormier, Denis Lavigne, Rachelle Lavigne, Eric Lavigne, Nathalie Richard, Mathieu Tremblay, Vincent Tremblay, David Tremblay, Jessica Lavigne and Emma Lavigne and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one sister, Marguerite Roy of Petit-Rocher.
Besides her husband, Joséphine was predeceased by three sisters: Florence Roussy, Adeline Leger, Marion Ivey and two brothers: John and Emile Vienneau.
The family would like to thank the personnel of Saint Brigid’s Home of Québec city for the care she received over the past 10 months.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place at Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst on Monday July 17th 2023 at 2 pm.
Donations in memory of Joséphine may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
