Mr. John Wilmer Leslie passed away at the Bethany CollegeSide in Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the age of 77 years. John was born in Glascow, Scotland on June 12, 1946 to Ronald and Christina Leslie. When John was just three months old, he sailed to Canada with his mom to meet his dad for the first time who had been serving in the army. John was the oldest with four younger siblings and they lived on the family farm in Kirkella, Manitoba. John loved the game of Hockey, and it took him from Elkhorn, Manitoba to Fort St. John, British Columbia to Prince George, British Columbia and then settling in Innisfail, Alberta. He wasn’t the biggest player, but he was the feistiest! In 1985, John moved back to the family farm in Kirkella, Manitoba until later returning to Innisfail where he worked for Alken Basin Drilling for many years. John will be lovingly remembered by his children, Ron (Teresa) Leslie, Marla Leslie (Craig) and Jason (Sharri) Leslie and his five grandsons, Hunter, Zachary, Niklas, Brett and Adam. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Betty Leslie, Rhonda Pruden, Sandra (Rick) Foster and Jim (Susan) Leslie as well as numerous other family members and dear friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Christina Leslie and his brother-in-law, Barry Pruden. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the nurses and staff on Unit B1 at Bethany CollegeSide for their care and compassion for John. A Private Family Gathering will be held at a later date.
