Peacefully at St. Peters Chedoke, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 73 on December 29th, 2022. Beloved Husband to Carolina for over 49 years of marriage. Loving Father to Isac, Acacio, and Anesio. Adoring Grandfather to David, Carina, Alysa and Nadia.
Predeceased by his parents Joao and Maria, Brother Eduardo and Sister Hortencia. Joao will be sadly missed by his brothers Jose and Manuel, his sister Maria Do Carme, along with his brother in laws and sister in laws. Also, by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends in Canada, Portugal, and the USA.
A dedicated family man and extremely hard worker, Joao loved spending time with his wonderful wife, sons and grandkids. His commitment to the church was unwavering, and he was a true pillar in the Hamilton Catholic Community. He was also extremely passionate about music, soccer and enjoyed traveling to new places.
A special thank you to daughter in laws Floriana Moro and Salvina Arruda for all their dedication and tireless contributions. We would like to thank the PSW’s that Cared for Joao, prior to his residency at St. Peter’s Chedoke. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at St. Peters Chedoke, for the care, love and support they provided Joao. He had the most wonderful caregivers, especially during his final days.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home Hamilton, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton, (905-574-0405), on Wednesday, January 4th, from 2:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St .Margaret Mary Church, 20 Idlewood Avenue, Hamilton, on Thursday, January 5th at 10:00am. Burial to Follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 580 Old York Road, Burlington, ON.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peters Chedoke or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
