IRVING, JOAN ELIZABETH (PATRIQUIN) GULF SHORE, PUGWASH, AGE 80
Passed away peacefully Monday, December 20, 2022 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born on January 09, 1942 on the Lake Road, Tatamagouche. She was the daughter of the late Charles Patriquin and Elaine (Tattrie) Dobson. Joan graduated in 1966 completing Occupational Therapy in Kingston, Ontario. She worked for several years at Sunset Adult Residential Centre, Pugwash. She married her husband in 1965 where together they operated Straitside Holsteins and started a family. Joan had many skills including cooking & baking, sewing & alterations and feeding the baby calves on the farm. She enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, reading, puzzles and playing cards – especially bridge. Joan was a 4-H sewing leader and spent many hours at various 4-H and youth activities as her daughter was growing up. She enjoyed all the animals on the farm but was most fond of her many cats. Joan is survived by her daughter Kara, Pugwash, brother Winston (Peggy), Tatamagouche and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Keith and sister Marilyn Colborne. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre for their care and compassion of Joan during this most difficult time. Also a special Thank you to cousin Eileen King for all her support. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held from 2-5 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Mundle’s Funeral Home, Pugwash. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada, L A Animal Shelter or the charity of one’s choice.
