Obituary of Iris Cameron
Our beloved sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Iris Cameron passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 surrounded by family with comfort and love. She was 72.
Iris was born in Mendez, St. Catherine, Jamaica, on September 29, 1950, to the late Edward and Ambrozine Cameron. Iris left home at an early age to work and pursue her studies in accounting in Kingston, Jamaica. She migrated to Canada in 1970. She worked in fashion as a model and entrepreneur. She later retired after decades of working as a civil servant at Revenue Canada.
She was an avid reader, life-long learner and a deep thinker. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially while hosting her fabulous social gatherings. She was known for her entertaining skills and for being a talented cook who reveled in preparing mouth-watering delights for her guests. Her style and elegance could only be matched by her warmth and generousity.
Iris persevered for many years over ongoing health challenges. Through it all she stayed anchored in her faith in God.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters: Joylyn Cameron, Ivy Henry Boswell(Roy), Judene Greene Henry (Fred), Catherine Cameron, Merilyn Thompson (Rodney); brothers: Austin Cameron, Onis Cameron(Velma), Winston Cameron, Royland Cameron, Paul Cameron(Donna), Andrew Cameron(Carol); aunts: Catherine McNeil, Joan Nembhard; uncle: Tom Lawrence; nieces: Marcelle Mullings, Teca Tackie (Emmanuel), Racquel Cameron, Shavanique Cameron, Petagaye Henry, Georgian Henry, Avagaye Henry, Renee Cameron, Olette Cameron, Oneisha Cameron, Andrean Cameron(Tray), Nikkia Thompson, Mikkayla Cameron, Monique Cameron; nephews: Damion Scott (Desreen), Sheldon Cameron, Dewayne Cameron, Leighton Henry(Amanda), Corey Cameron, Ryan Cameron, Khaniel Cameron, Orville Cameron, Anthony Rogers, Jaden Thompson; numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews, many cousins; including Faye Lawrence and Cecily Cameron-Scott ; and many friends, including best friend Eseneth aka Merle Parke.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, comforting messages, overwhelming love, friendship, and support during this difficult time.
Iris will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends. We will always remember her infectious smile and beautiful spirit. We will forever hold in our hearts, and cherish, our precious memories of her. May her soul rest in peace.
