Moncton, NB – Jean Ronald (John) Olscamp, 84, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 14, 2023, with his wife of 62 years and three daughters by his side after a 22-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Jean was born in St-Casimir, PQ on April 30, 1938, the son of the late Ronaldo and Marie-Ange (Boisvert) Olscamp. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Eleanor (Ellie) and daughters: Lyn (Dan) Vancouver, BC, Carol (Brad) Moncton, NB, and Bonnie (Mark) Ottawa, ON; grandchildren: Alain, Luc (Rachel), Lise (Cody) and Kael; great-grandsons: Grayson and Matthias; his sister Celine (late Ian) Newcastle, NB; his two brothers: Dennis (Sophie) Chateauguay, PQ and Gilles (Sharon) Dunlop, NB; also, many nieces, nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Claire.
Before his Parkinson’s was more advanced, he enjoyed cycling, skating, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, badminton, camping and ballroom dancing.
Cremation has taken place. A private Christian burial with immediate family only will take place at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Bathurst, NB at a later date.
A special thanks to those who helped Ellie with his care; Extra Mural – Driscoll unit, Integrity, Faubourg du Mascaret – Pavillon Richard and the faithful friends who were always there for both he and Ellie.
Donations in Jean’s memory can be made to Parkinson’s Canada, Friends of the Moncton Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice.
