Henry Gordon Ackersviller, age 88, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on January 29, 2023. Born in Stratford, son of the late William Henry “Harry” and Margaret Ackersviller.
Beloved husband for 63 years of Joyce (Hayden). Loving father of Colleen Schwindt (Greg), Nancy (Terry), Randal (Crystal). Grandfather of Derek Watt (Katelynn), Jason Watt, Kaitlin Schwindt, Morgan Schwindt (Jeff), Emma Schwindt (Austin), Matthew Schwindt, Brendan Ackersviller, Elizabeth Carter (Devon), Montrena Ebersol (Jonas), Ashley McArthur (Clayton) and great grandfather of Jesse, Lacy, Aurora and Talon. Brother of Jean Martin (Elmer). Brother-in-law of Mauna Squire, Bruce Hayden (Joyce) and Sandra Rutherford (Jack), Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by siblings Lloyd (Nora), Jack (Verna), Harriett Lowe (Don), Clarance (Jane), Fern Schram (Bill), Arthur, Edmond and brother-in-law Morton Squire.
Henry farmed in Perth East for over 60 years until his retirement. He spent many years ministering for Gideon Bibles in schools and prisons and driving for the Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday, February 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Avondale Cemetery.
