Obituary
With most heavy of hearts, and sadness beyond belief the family of Helen Dumouchel, of Saint John NB, announces her very sudden passing at 90 years of age.
Helen was born in Saint John, NB, on August 05,1933, and was the daughter of the late Gladys (Darlow) and Cornelius Muise. Helen was predeceased by her husband, the late and most cherished, Rosaire “Rosie” Dumouchel; sister: Ruth Kearns; and brother: Fred Muise, both of Saint John, NB; as well as special niece: Brenda Sproul.
She is survived by her truest love, daughter: Crystal Dumouchel Scoville; adored twin grandsons: Maxime & Miles Dumouchel Scoville; doting son-in-law: Michael Scoville; step-granddaughter: Brittany Scoville; son: Peter Dumouchel (Lisa Colwell); grandchildren: Brandon Trembley & MacKenzie Dumouchel; brother-in-law: Rejean Dumouchel (Lise Simard); nephews: Styve Dumouchel (Shawna White) and their children Pierre Dumouchel (Caroline Quinn) and Danielle Dumouchel, Martin Dumouchel, (Kathy Brogan) and their children Sophie Dumouchel, Sébastien Dumouchel and Sam Dumouchel; and niece: Lynn Boss. Helen was also a great-aunt to Ashley and Amy Daigle, and Sean and Chris Sproul; a dear sister-in-law to Elizabeth Muise; very dear special cousin, and lifelong friend to Jackie Chisholm and family, Jamie Chisholm (Vicki Gilbert) Harrison, Hudson, Marley, and Carla Chisholm, as well as several other cherished cousins.
Helen was a very talented artist. Her attention to detail was unmatched. She enjoyed painting for many, many, years of her life. Her works of art will be most treasured by her family. She was such a gentle soul. In her early 20’s, Helen worked at the old General Hospital in Saint John, NB, as an elevator operator. Then onto the General Insurance Company at the foot of King Street where she cherished her times working alongside “the girls”… until she met her husband to be, “Rosie” at a dance one evening at the Lily Lake Pavilion. She said she had met “a cute little French man” and from there…. love was in the air. They travelled for years after getting married in October of 1963. Finally, Rosie decided to start his own business, all by himself initially (Lorneville Mechanical Contractors) … and the rest is history. She had such a love for all animals, including 2 beautiful cats that she will dearly miss…A saved Christian from an early age, she was a prayer warrior for Christ. Helen lived her life for God. She was a member of the Crossroads Cathedral in Saint John, NB. Our Lord and Savior, and the church played a huge role in Helen’s life. As she aged, it became too difficult for her to go to the church, but she was considered an honorary member at Northside Assembly on Millidge Avenue in Saint John, NB, under the direction of Pastor Michael Campbell, and Pastor Gary Barrett.
Pastor Gary, her Pastor from back in the days of Crossroads Cathedral, and Pastor Michael Campbell held a very special “Final Farewell” gathering at her final destination, Bobby’s Hospice, Dufferin Avenue, Saint John, NB. It was a private, family only gathering, just as she would have wanted. She was a very private person, unassuming, so warm and exceptionally kind and the absolute most wonderful mother, wife, daughter, and friend. Her daughter Crystal was her every joy. Side by side, always…together in life…for always and forever. The emptiness in her heart will only be filled when they meet again in heaven. No truer love between a mother and daughter….
The family must express such thanks and gratitude to the following individuals for the EXTRA SPECIAL care received during this most difficult time: The Saint John Reginal Hospital, Dr. Fong (Interventional Cardiologist), Dr. Hansen (Cardiologist), Dr. Buick (Cardiologist), Dr. McGrath (Cardiologist), Dr. O’Brien (Palliative Care/Bobby’s Hospice), charge nurse Krista and several nurses, Dr. Demmings (Ophthalmology) and team, family physician, Dr. Elizebeth Keyes, Pharmacist Jason Steeves, and the entire team at Pharmasave East.
At Bobby’s Hospice, Dr. O’Brien (Medical Director), Dr. Love, and several special nurses went above and beyond during her very brief stay there. The care that was given was truly such a blessing during this time.
At Helen’s request, being the shy individual she has always been…. the family has chosen to respect her wishes for no funeral service. As mentioned, a private gathering was held. To those that knew her….please….never forget her…she was too wonderful to forget ❤️
Helen would have appreciated any Donations made in her memory to the SPCA Saint John, NB.
