Having fought a courageous battle with cancer, Hank passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 25, 2022, with his son Mike, and daughter-in-law Denise at his side.
Hank was born in Mainz, Germany on October 9, 1934 and married his soulmate Betty on December 20, 1958. He continued to reside in Mainz with Betty and their sons until he came to Canada to prepare for their immigration in 1963. His hobbies of being a private pilot, bi-plane builder, sailboat captain, fisherman, golfer and avid snow-birder were made possible by his hard work on their family ranch in Lone Butte, BC and being a heavy-duty mechanic in 108 Mile House, BC. He was also an owner/operator of a couple gravel trucks while in 108. In 2006, Hank and Betty moved to Oliver, BC where they thoroughly enjoyed their retirement.
Hank leaves behind his youngest son, Mike (Denise); granddaughters, Cass (Jason), Alicia (Shannon), Nicole (Jerred) and great-grandchildren, Kaden, Raine, Halo, Zach, Lincoln, and Petal. He also leaves behind his only brother, Karl and nephews all of Germany. Many extended family and close friends also mourn his passing. Hank was predeceased by his wife Betty of 57 years and his oldest son Frank.
At Hank’s request, no memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kiwanis Club of Oliver.
