Obituary of Heather Maureen Long
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Heather Maureen Long, of Hanna, Alberta at the age of 60, on May 24, 2023, at the Hanna Hospital.
Heather was born in Outlook Saskatchewan on March 11, 1963, to parents Helen and Bryan Roberts. She was blessed with three sisters: Barbara, Nadine and Tracy.
Heather spent most of her growing up years in Yellowknife, NWT. In 1983 she moved to Calgary, Alberta. This is where she met the love of her life, Mike Long. In 2000, they moved to Hanna, Alberta to start their new home, and in 2015 they were married. Mike had always wanted to get married, but it took Heather more than a few years to finally “surrender” to Mike asking to marry him!!
For many years Heather worked office administration work, however her passion and hobbies included gardening, cooking, and herbology. She made the best Asian food, and lemon turkey! Heather also loved her dogs; they were like family to her.
Heather will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Mike of 40 years. She is survived by and will be missed by her sisters: Nadine (Jeff), and Tracy; her children: Cora and Bryan, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her dad Bryan, sister Barbara, and mother Helen.
If desired, donations in memory of Heather can be made directly to the Harvest Sky Animal Rescue in Hanna, Box 2126, Hanna, AB, T0J 1P0, or to the Alberta Cancer Society.
No funeral service will be held at this time.
