HALLERAN, Gerald “Buddy Feller”
September 26, 1961 — December 27, 2022
In the early evening of December 27th, we lost the patriarch of our family and our hearts are broken. Gerry passed in Kelowna General Hospital with his daughter Jessy by his side.
Born and raised in St Johns, Newfoundland, and a leather worker by trade, Gerry had his first child Leeland there. Gerry came to BC to work for Canadian Pacific in the early 90s. He lived in Lytton where he had his children Jessy and McKeana. Gerry called Lytton home for many years before finally settling in the Fraser Canyon community of Boston Bar.
A fondness for Newfoundland music, cats, plum chutney, and Jiggs dinner, and a hatred for seafood, Gerry was the light and happiness in any room with his infectious laugh and imp grin. He loved his children and grandchildren beyond measure and was always a very active role in their lives. He lived for his trips back home to his beloved Newfoundland and his girls and him did numerous trips back by train. Gerry was the happiest he could be when he was back home on The Rock with of his children by his side.
Gerry is predeceased by his mother Marie and his father Gerald and his sister Joyce Halleran (Howald), as well as dear friend Alison Duncan who he forever missed.
Gerry is lovingly and sadly remembered by his children Leeland Halleran(Santana) and grandchilden Rae-Lee and Colton. Also his daughters Jessy Halleran(Austin) and McKeana Halleran. Gerry is also lovingly remembered by his sister Bonnie Stanford (Bruce) nephews Mark(Kyla), Jayson, Ashley (Sandra), and niece Laura (Paul), with many great nephews and nieces. Also remembered by his brother Rick; nieces Brooklyn and Bethany, as well as nephews Jamie and Victor Howald.
Gerry is also mourned by many extended family on the Williamson and MacIntyre side, particularily Cayley and Tara who made many camping and 4X4ing trips with him.
Also mourned and remembered by many many friends and his Canadian Pacific family; in particular Scott Ellis, and his close crew of Darren, Kevin, and Tommy, who he shared a special friendship and work shenanigans with.
There is so much that could be written about this kind and gentle man who could give a whole room a bout of Newfoundland belly laughs with his own hearty laugh. He will be forever missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank his nurse Ben and the kind staff at Kelowna General, as well as Bob at Springfield Funeral home for his kindness extended to us during this difficult time.
A memorial will be announced at a later date in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a charity of your choice in his name. Ashes will be spread in BC and Newfoundland with some being kept by his family for their own ceremonial uses.
