Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Grace Tooley on Saturday, December 31st. Grace passed away peacefully at Fairmount Home in her 94th year, where she had been a resident since July 2017. Throughout this time, she touched the hearts of the staff, residents, and volunteers who appreciated her chatting, good sense of humor and her love for animals and children. The family would like to convey their sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairmount Home for all their love and attention during her time there.
Grace was the daughter of Roscoe and Charlotte Thomson. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Herb, their daughter Brenda and son Don. Grace is survived by her sister Freda, sister-in-law Marilyn, daughters Jan and Pam (Francisco) and daughter-in-law Fran. Grace has sadly left us but will be forever missed. Grandma Grace has left many good memories with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grand child.
Grace pursued many interests during her lifetime. She was the Postmaster at Plevna post office for 25 years. Grace and Herb carried on the family tradition of owning Tooley Lodge on scenic Mackie Lake where she became very well known for her attention to detail, delicious meals and the repeat customers who returned year after year requesting her lemon meringue pie and home-made bread. Her other passion led her to pursue a Certificate in Herbology which was triggered by her interest for natural remedies.
Grace was always full of music and song. She was known for her harmonizing skills over the years, whether it be as a church choir member or just in a sing along. She was a great supporter of her local church acting as elder as well as a supporter of her local community.
Friends wishing to honor Grace are invited to make a donation to any local charity that teaches love and support for the community suffering from Dementia even if it is just to pay a visit to a loved one who may not remember who you are.
Grace will always be remembered for her abundant energy and love of life. We will miss her dearly.
The family will receive friends at the Milestone Funeral Center located at 11928 Highway # 41, in Northbrook, Ontario on Saturday, January 7th from 1:30-4:30 p.m., with service to follow.
