Glenis Erla Gauthier (Grice) – Obituary
Glenis Erla Grice was born September 16, 1956 in Flin Flon, Manitoba to Janet and Alan Grice and spent the first nine years of her life in Lynn Lake, Manitoba where she began her first school years. She had three siblings, older brother Gordon Douglas and two younger brothers Alan Robert and Kevin Wayne.
In 1965 the family moved to Vernon, B.C. and in the spring of 1966, they packed up and moved to Fraser Lake B.C where they lived until 1969. In the fall of 1969, they packed up again and moved to the coal mine at Hinton Alberta. Such is the life of a mining family.
Glenis graduated school from Harry Collinge High School in Hinton in 1974 after which she worked at the Land Titles Office in Edmonton as a typist.
She moved back to Hinton and married Fred Gauthier in 1978, to this union one child, Angela Michelle was born. Angela was her pride and joy and she cared for her family and her home tirelessly.
Early in the New Millennium Fred and Glenis moved to Fort McMurray and after several years of saving they bought the Elks Motel in Keremeos B.C. After a couple of bad years due to the economy Glenis was abandoned by her family and became a resident at the Country Squire Villa of Osoyoos B.C in the summer of 2014.
Glenis spent her last years making many new friends amongst the residents and the staff of “The Squire.” During our visits to see her over the last nine years we found that these years were among some of the happiest years of her life. Glenis passed away on June 26th, 2023 after several months battling with Cancer.
Rest in Peace Little Sister
Our many thanks go out to the Nichol Family, the wonderful staff at the Country Squire Villa, Glenis’s many friends, Dr. DeVries, the Palliative Care people that provided for her medical needs. For Pastor Phil and Mrs Nichol on the piano and Michelle Nichol all for their part in the service.
