Obituary
Passed away at the Carmelite House Palliative Care Unit on March 14, 2023, Gerald Francis Murray. He was 87 years of age.
Gerald was born in Grand Falls-Windsor but lived in St. John’s and Ontario before moving back to Grand Falls-Windsor with his family, and worked until he retired from The Department of Transportation and Works.
Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rita Murray; first wife Imelda; brothers Gregory, John, Kevin, George, Don; sisters Margaret Morrissey and Anita Cantwell. Leaving to mourn his passing are his wife Irene, son Sean (Linda); daughters Denise (Bern Rideout), Ann (Eric Rideout), Jackie (Alex Cook); grandchildren Pamela, Geena, Robin, Erica, Samantha, Jacob, Jenna, Sarah; 6 great-grandchildren; step-daughter Vanessa Keats; sisters Rita (Dave Sullivan), Mary Budgell, Kathleen (Danny Clatney); brother Terry (Sheila Murray); and other relatives and friends, especially Aunt Kay McDermott, Brian Sparks, Joe Power, and Dick Duder.
Gerald was well loved by his family and he loved everyone and told them so. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Grand Falls-Windsor. Gerald loved to go hunting and fishing at his cabin and cod fishing in Fortune Harbour. Gerald loved music, dancing, and could play the spoons well. He had a great love for his family and was surrounded by all those who he loved when he became sick.
