George MacCallum
1936-2023
With grateful hearts for an incredible
man, the family of W. George Clinton MacCallum, 87, of Moncton and
formerly Steeves Mountain share that he is now with his Heavenly
Father, passing on June 21, 2023 at The Moncton Hospital. He was the
youngest child of the late Charles and Luretta (Harrop) MacCallum and
was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife Eileen
(Steeves), just prior to their 65th anniversary, his children Karen
(Charles) Hopkins, Gail (Herb) Young, Ardith (Mike) Legacy, and Dwight
(Leanne) MacCallum. He was Bampie to 14 grandchildren, 18
great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He was predeceased by
his son Brent in 1988, grandson Connor in 1994, and 10 siblings
Maryellen, Lois, Alexander, Archibald, Esther, Malcolm, Lucy, Joel,
Neil and Allan.
After pursuing various fields of
employment, he graduated from NBCC with a welding certificate in 1966
and worked at Apex Machine Shop for more than 30 years until his
retirement. He worked very hard supporting his family, teaching
himself plumbing, electrical, carpentry and vehicle repair. In later
years, he loved puttering around in the basement of their Steeves
Mountain home and memorializing the date on everything.
He was a lifelong member of the Wesleyan
Church, and served in various capacities and attended the seniors
group there.
The family would like to express a
special thanks to the staff at the Moncton Hospital and especially the
wonderful care provided by Dr. Brian Davidson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
care of Salisbury Funeral Home, 506-372-4800. A celebration of his
life will be held at The Moncton Wesleyan Church Atrium on Tuesday,
June 27th at 2:00pm. A private family interment
was held at the new Elgin Cemetery beside his son
Brent.
Donations in his memory can be made to
Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity
of donor’s choice. Online condolences and donations may be
