George Henry Volaine
1923-2023
On the morning of July 19th – three months, to the day, before his 100th birthday – George decided it was time to end his journey here and join his wife, Joyce, who we lost in 2017. He spent his last hours surrounded by the love of family and the gentle care of the staff at Bethell Hospice. George will be greatly missed by his daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Mike; his three granddaughters Chantel, Robyn and Cassie; his granddaughters Karen, Laura and Barb; his three great grandchildren Sean, Morghan and Hannah; and all of his loving family and friends.
George was given the gift of an independent and full life by the devotion and assistance of his family. It was through their gentle care that he was able to spend his last wonderful years at home and share together the many milestones of life.
George was truly a man of resilience and strength. His journey saw the countless hardships, joys and changes that almost 100 years of history bore. He lived life fully, and loved his family fiercely.
George took great joy in his woodworking, and has left his love in the beautiful pieces he crafted for his family. Some of his fondest moments were the many camping adventures he shared with Joyce and Michelle. We are comforted by the knowledge that he is now forever camping with his wife in their little Granny Smith camper.
As per his wishes, there will not be a Memorial Service at this time. George’s family is grateful for the care of the staff and volunteers at Bethell Hospice; if you wish to honor his memory with a donation, please support the Bethell Hospice Foundation.
