JUNKER: George – It is with deep sadness that the family of George Allan Junker communicate his passing on Friday, July 21st, peacefully at the Woodstock Hospital in the arms of his wife, Brenda, and two sons, Stephen and David.
George spent his life in the East-Zorra Tavistock community, having been born and raised in the Tavistock area thereafter settling in Hickson. George had the great honour of serving on the Hickson Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years while also giving back to the community as a hockey and baseball coach.
If George was not meticulously tending the property at 96 Loveys St. in Hickson, he was found piecing together a wonderful creation in his woodshop or tinkering on his 1968 Ford Mustang. He and Brenda found solace at numerous campgrounds in and around Ontario. Many memories were made with family and friends watching magnificent Lake Huron sunsets or around a roaring campfire (which was most surely extinguished by the end of the evening).
George was most proud of his family. His beautiful wife of 48 years, Brenda; his son Stephen and wife Erin; his son David and partner Claudie. Most important of all to George were his grandkids – Myla, Brady and Audrey. If his lap was free he’d be joined by his sons’ dogs – Maui and Taco.
George was predeceased by his father Lorne, his mother Ruth (Neeb) and sister-in-law Deborah. George is further survived by his loving sisters Mary Kropf and Dorothy Vollmershausen and favourite brother Don. George is also fondly remembered by the extended Seegmiller family.
The family wishes to invite all who would want to join to gather for a Celebration of Life at 1:30 PM on Sat, July 29th on the family property at 96 Loveys St, Hickson. Words of Remembrance will take place at 2pm, immediately followed by a social gathering at the Hickson Park Pavilion. Dress casually. Light refreshments will be served. Please park vehicles at Hickson Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hickson Firefighters Association or the Hebron United Church would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences can be posted at www.gffh.ca
