Obituary
On July 10, 2023, George Streeter died in the Long-Term Care ward of the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre, Alberta at the age of 91 years.
George Streeter, born on May 4, 1932 in Halifax County, Nova Scotia, enlisted and fought in the Korean War. When he arrived home, he became a Millwright, and joined the Free Masons, Shriners, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was very active with all three, and in his communities of both Kitimat, BC and Ponoka, AB.
George is survived by his four daughters: Susan and Mark Brown, Anna and Niels Jensen, Rose and John Cheeks, Linda and Mark Stevens. He is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with six sisters: Vivian, Barbara, Dorothy, Florence, Helen, and Carol. He was preceded in death by the mother of his first four daughters, Jane.
George ia also survived by his wife Alexa Streeter; his three daughters and son: Sandra and Wayne Chisholm, Thasis Dawe, Denise and Bobby Tucceri, Terry and Candace Streeter, Jean and David Weibe. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Sarah; three brothers and one sister: Reginald, Henry, Gail, and one unnamed infant brother; and his son Todd Dawe.
George loved a good cup of coffee at Tim Horton’s with his friends and Mason buddies. George loved his dogs, his family, and his community who all loved him right back. He always had a kind word or some type of joke for everyone.
George’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre – Auxiliary Ward and to Eunice Trowsdale, for their love and care during his final years.
George’s family would like to request no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted to the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre, Long-Term Care Unit.
