In Celebration of
Frances Marie Cappuccitti
August 14, 1933 –
February 17, 2023
On Friday February 17th, in the most peaceful and graceful manner, surrounded by her children Donna, Angela (Ariel) and Michael (Olga), granddaughter Deanna, brother Ross and sister-in-law Mary, several nieces and nephews, and her absolutely amazing team of caregivers, Delia, Kit and Annie, Frances Marie Cappuccitti (née Indovina) passed on from this life and into the Kingdom of the Lord. She is reunited with her husband Rocco, her parents Anthony and Mary Indovina, her sisters Anna, Gloria and Margaret, and brothers Lawrence and Joseph. Her unwavering sense of love, support, strength, optimism and selflessness will be indescribably missed by her sister Rosemary (Norm), her brother Ross (Mary), her children and beloved grandchildren Deanna, Eric, Sloane, Rock, Jade, Mia and Marc. Frances was born at home, above her family’s store, High Park Fruit Market, raised in the Toronto Junction, and attended grade school at Saint Cecilia’s Elementary School. She entered adulthood by reluctantly abandoning her high school studies at Western Tech High School in order to help her family’s business thrive. She became a self-taught accountant and bookkeeper who had a natural knack for numbers, order and organization, and who served as the financial record-keeping backbone for the early stages of Ontario Potato Distributing Inc., co-founded by husband Rocco and brother-in-law Gordon Cappuccitti. Her greatest attribute above all, however, was her sense of perseverance and optimism in the face of unthinkable challenges. Her finest moments would be found in overcoming breast cancer and surviving a stroke that left her confined to a wheelchair for over 13 years. Through all of this she retained a sense of hope; an attitude of positivity; and a personal demand to herself that she never give up on her chances of walking again. THIS is what truly defines a legacy. Not money, not possessions, not accolades. Rather what does is the gift to those she leaves behind, of a sense of being able to overcome and accomplish whatever you set your mind to, no matter how high the mountain before you appears to be. And to be remembered as THAT person is the definition of living a full, successful life. By that measure, Frances inspired us all in a way that will live on in our hearts and minds forever, and beyond. Earth lost one of the great ones, but Heaven has inherited a gem.
