Frances Caroline Apps passed away peacefully at her home in Burford, Ontario in her 95th year on March 11, 2023. The daughter of Alfred Stanley Apps and Charlotte Gertrude Lloyd-Jones Apps (née Luard), Frances was born in 1928. Growing up, she attended Jane Laycock School in Brantford, Burford High School, McMaster University and Hamilton Teachers’ College. During her lifelong career as an educator, she spent many years as an elementary school teacher in Northern Ontario (Chapleau), followed by several decades in Georgetown until her retirement in 1992.
Frances will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She was pre-deceased by both of her parents, as well as her younger brothers, Will and Arthur, her older brother, David, and her sister-in-law, Imogene (Gracey). Frances spent her retirement years in Burford, Ontario, most recently under the wonderful care of Deb Allgood who was with her at the end. She is survived by her six nieces and nephews (Alfred, Peggy, Eric, Caroline, David and Martin) and a long list of great nieces and nephews, as well as 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
Frances devoted her life to her Christian faith and to the spread of the gospel. She has now gone to her reward. A memorial graveside ceremony for her family and close friends, in thanksgiving for, and celebration of, her life will be held at Burford Pioneer Cemetery on Saturday, March 18th at 11:00 am.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Frances’ memory may be made to the Canadian Bible Society. Keith Ovington 519-449-1112 www.keithovington.ca
