Obituary
Florence Akerley, 87, of Moncton passed peacefully on July 10, 2023. Born in Sunny Brae, NB she was the daughter of Charles and Florence (Wilson) Akerley.
Florence graduated Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Science Home Economics, which brought her to a career at The Moncton Hospital as a Dietician. She was an Honorary member of the New Brunswick Association of Dietitians; Life Member of Dietitians Canada. She was a former member of Humphrey Memorial United Church, and a member of Braesiders Senior Citizens Club and the Women’s Probus Club of South Eastern, NB. In her earlier years, Florence enjoyed curling, skiing, travel and summers in McKees Mills. Later, a change to sewing, shopping, playing bridge and being “Aunt Florence” for Frank, Konnor and Tayler.
Florence leaves behind nephews William Akerley, his son Frank, Kenneth Akerley (Edithann), their children Konnor and Tayler and Jeffrey Gray (Christine), their son Charlie; sister-in-law Jacqueline Akerley, Brother-in-law Charles Gray; as well as several cousins.
In addition to her parents, Florence was predeceased by her sister, Jean Gray, and brothers Frank and Kenneth.
In Honoring Florence’s wishes there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Salvation Army or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements are under the care of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995).
Interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery, McKee’s Mills.
