Evelyn Fisher was born on April 29, 1931, in Kirk Sandall, England, and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 8, 2023, at the age of 91 in Calgary, Alberta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice David Fisher.
After watching a movie about Canada and what was available there in terms of work, recreation, housing, and raising a family, Evelyn and David emigrated to Toronto. David soon found work with a British car dealership and Eve made their first house into a home and was always positive and supportive of their move to Canada. In time, she persuaded two of her sisters and brothers-in-law to emigrate as well. Soon enough, the Fisher family grew to four children: Stephen, Christine, Michelle, and Robert. Through it all, Eve found time to volunteer as a Brown Owl in the local Brownie organization. Later, she also took a position with Brown’s Camps looking after young people during the night shift.
In the mid 70’s Evelyn and David moved their family to Calgary to allow David to take a management position with Canadian Tire which had just opened its first store in the city of Calgary. Later, Eve joined the Sweet Adelines choral group which allowed her to enjoy her love of music and singing with her eldest daughter, Christine. During this time she was able to take part in many community events including performances for Seniors.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children Stephen John Fisher (Renay), Christine Mary Fisher (Ward), Michelle Fisher, and Robert David Fisher. Eve is also survived by her grandchildren Drew, Justine, Alexandra, Vanessa, Alina, and Ben, and her step-grandchildren, Laree (Scott), Nikki (Todd), and her great-step-grandchildren.
Eve lived her life to the fullest caring for her husband and her four children. She was enthusiastic about everything she undertook and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
The memorial service will be held where she will be laid to rest in Okotoks, Alberta next to her husband, David.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Agape Hospice.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Sage Hill Retirement Residence and the nurses and doctors at the Calgary Foothills Hospital.
