With sadness we announce the passing of Emma Margaret Wilson (nee Atcheson) on July 21, 2023, at the age of 96.
Emma was born in Collingwood on December 13, 1926. She was one of five children to parents Thomas and Mary Atcheson. She was raised in Collingwood, and in her late teens, was a welder for the Collingwood Shipyards.
For almost 70 years, until his passing in 2016, Emma was married to Henry Wilson. Together they raised 6 children Patricia (Wilbur Scrannage), Tom (Coleen), George (1997), Mary Louise (1998), Don (Carole), and Cindy (Brian Bell). She was also a proud grandmother and great grandmother.
Emma loved life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed music, dancing, travelling, bowling, crafts and baking. Later in life, Emma was extremely proud of her accomplishment of 25 plus years volunteering for the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
She was a strong woman and has always been a huge presence in her family. Emma will be missed, and forever remembered by family, friends and the community.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Bay Haven Care Community for being there for Emma’s last months of care.
A service of remembrance will be held at Trinity United Church, 140 Maple St. Collingwood on Thursday July 27, 2023, at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Trinity United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital in Emma’s memory.
