LEIS: Ellen Jane (nee Gerber) – passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth. Ellen Leis of Tavistock in her 94th year.
Beloved wife of the late Elton S. Leis who predeceased her August 3, 1999. Loving mother of Linda & husband Dennis Holst of Tavistock and Brenda & husband Earl Wagler of New Hamburg. Dearly missed by her grandchildren Jessica & Matthew Jantzi, Rebecca & Joshua Penfold, Luke & Christina Holst, Emily & Kevin Geeting, Joel Wagler, and by great grandchildren Andrew, Ellen, Ruth, Hudson, Brielle, Micah, Veronica, Ava, Lizzie and Eli. Survived by her brother Howard & Ada Gerber of New Hamburg, sisters Audrey & Harold Bender of New Hamburg and Carol and Irvin Wagler of New Hamburg. She will be fondly remembered by Gary & Shirley Yantzi and by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents Emmanuel & Clara (Schlabach) Gerber, by her brothers Calvin & Marion Gerber, Willard & Gladys Gerber, by her sisters Beulah & husband Henry Ruby, Margaret & husband Roy Ruby, Inez & husband Oliver Ramseyer, beloved twin sister Helen & husband Lester Yantzi and sister-in-law Nancy Yantzi.
On Monday, June 19, 2023 relatives and friends will be received at the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock St. N., Tavistock from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. On Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. a public burial service will take place in the East Zorra Mennonite Church Cemetery, 16th Line, followed by the Funeral Service at Tavistock Mennonite Church at 2:30 p.m. Fellowship luncheon to follow.
