Elizabeth (Harvey) Chinnick of Chatham, Ontario, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 22, 2023 with family by her side.
Liz was gracious and courageous to the end and her great sense of humour was the bedrock which helped carry her though her journey with lung cancer. She had a great compassion for all God’s creatures in need, this played out in the many animal rescues throughout her life. Liz was a local hairdresser and confidant to many in the community for over 50 years. During that time she formed many lasting relationships with clients and colleagues. Grateful for her years of life, she reached the age of 75.
Liz was born on April 21, 1947 in St. John’s, NL to the late Lewis and Mary (Pinsent) Harvey.
Beloved wife of 30 years to Bob Chinnick and loving mother to Bonnie Knights of Chatham and David (Nancy) Campbell of Windsor. Dear sister to Wayne (Maureen) Harvey of Pictou, NS, Marion (Paul) Harvey of Chatham, Mike (Charlene) Harvey of Bolton, Harold (Marlene) Harvey of Ridgetown and Margaret (Brent) Smith of Chatham. Predeceased by her brother Kurt Harvey; Sister-in-law to Brent (Ali) Chinnick and Judy (David predeceased) Kucharski. Dearly missed by nieces and nephews, Tanya (Philip) Ruiz, Donald (Sadie) Harvey, Matthew (Kevin) Harvey, Sarah (Dan) Harvey, Hayden Smith and Hunter Smith; great nieces Paytan and Emma Ruiz and great nephew Logan Harvey.
In keeping with Elizabeth’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
There will be a remembrance service at the Kent Club at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 29th, followed by a celebration of life from 2:30 to 6:00. In tribute to her sense of responsibility and care for creation.
Donations to the Ontario Humane Society or Canadian Feed the Children charity would be appreciated.
