Mr. Ed Meyhack of Simcoe, passed away peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital , Simcoe on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the age of 84. Eckhardt Hans Meyhack was born in Germany on February 6, 1939. Ed came to Canada in 1960 and worked as a pastry chef at hotels in Toronto . He moved to Simcoe and became the production manager at Mrs. Smith’s Pies on 2nd Avenue in Simcoe. Ed had a dream of owning his own business to make his favourite desserts. In 1984, Ed and Rosemarie opened the Harmony Pastry Shop & Café. The bakery will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2024. Beloved husband of Rosemarie (Haefele) Meyhack. Loving father of daughters, Christina and Susan, and son in law, Orrie Ecker. Cherished Opa of Joshua and Hayden Csanyi. Dearest brother of Sabine Benschneider in Germany . He will be sadly missed by his many long time customers and acquaintances. Predeceased by his sister, Heidi Meyhack (1968). Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 2:00 pm. with Pastor Kevin Babbey officiating. Inurnment in Delhi Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or the Delhi Community Health Centre will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
