Dr. John Francis Bedell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Francis Bedell on January 18th, 2023. John leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Elsa. He was a devoted and loving Father to his three children Kathy (Ed), Donna and his son Rodney (Jeap), who died in 2007. He was a loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren Alicia (Kyle), Jennifer (Tim), Ian (Gabrielle), Andrew, Sarah, Daniel and Derek and his two great grandchildren Eden and Elijah. John is also survived by his sister Patricia Ross. A treasured and deeply loved husband, father, father in law, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, brother in law and friend, John will be greatly missed by all who knew him. John was also a devoted family physician practising medicine for over 54 years before giving up his hospital privileges in 2013. John was a devout and faithful parishioner at Christ the King Church in Etobicoke and took great comfort in his faith. He was a founding and active member of the Applewood Probus club, an avid golfer and loved a competitive bridge game. Our own precious memories of John will remain with us all forever.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto for their care and
compassion during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, you are invited to donate in his honour to the Church of Christ the King,
Etobicoke or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, January 28th , at 11am at the Church of
Christ the King, 475 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, with visitation from 10-11am.
