Obituary
Dorothy Damery (Dot) McCaughey (nee Gillis) of McNair Manor and formerly of Birchmount Drive, passed away at her residence on February 8, 2023. Born in Moncton on March 31, 1923 she passed just weeks before what would have been her 100th birthday.
The oldest of four daughters, of the late Edythe (Damery) and Arthur Gillis, she is survived by her son Thomas W., (late Pamela) of Moncton and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas S. K. McCaughey, daughter in law Pamela Kimberley McCaughey and sisters Pauline Mutrie (Dr. W. Murray) (Woodstock, NB.), Margaret Jardine (Claude B.) (Halifax, NS.) and Jean McLellan (Brigadier – General (Retired) Allan) (Halifax, NS.).
Dot was a member of the former Wesley Memorial United Church and active in the U.C.W. She was an avid golfer and in 2008 was made a life member of Country Meadows Golf Club. She was also active in swimming, sewing, knitting and crafts throughout her life.
She and her husband spent summers at their trailer in Ocean Surf Trailer Park and made several trips to Europe, as well as spending many winters in Florida.
At Dot’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
