Dorothy Fanjoy
1944-2023
Dorothy Margaret Fanjoy of Salisbury passed away peacefully
surrounded by loved ones at the Moncton Hospital Tuesday August 22nd,
2023. She was one of eight children, pre-deceased by her father
Clarence, mother Dorothy, siblings Gary, James (Jimmy) and infant
sibling, Jocelyn, in-laws, Lesley Wilkins and Garnet Steeves. She was
born at the Saint John Hospital.
Dorothy worked as a PSW for the Jordan Memorial and Spencer
Memorial Homes, later turning her experience into a personal care
business that provided assisted living services to those with need,
and before retiring provided in-home assisted living services for
clients of Moncton Community Residences.
Dorothy loved her family, loved a good game of cards and
hated to lose. She was an avid baker, and lover of all things
Christmas. To her sons, she was a task master when she had to be, a
teacher when she got the opportunity, a co-conspirator as often as
possible, a shield against injustice, and a vigilante protector when
all else failed. She was a rock to hang onto, a stern hand to guilt
you straight, and a fool proof example to grow up independent and
strong. A constant source of unconditional love and support that never
wavered. To her friends and siblings, a mirror of truth and source of
sage advice. To her grand children, the owner of a sugar factory where
all the goodies came with expectations and a ton of
love.
Dorothy enjoyed a good meal out at her favorite restaurants,
her favourite way to spend time with loved ones and friends.
She enjoyed travelling and going for a drive in the middle of a
snow-storm. She loved a good secret (even though keeping them seemed
impossible) and a good book. She was one of a kind, a great friend, a
mother most can only wish for and she will be missed.
Dorothy is survived and sadly missed by her sons: Anthony
(Susan) Reeder, Christopher (Blaine) Reeder, Mike (Hubert) Reeder, Tom
Reeder and David Fanjoy Jr; her brothers: Allan, Dave and Danny Gogan;
her sisters, Rhea Wilkins and Donna Steeves; her grandchildren:
Christopher Reeder, Michael Reeder Jr (Ashley), Kathryn Spears (Josh),
Ryan Reeder, Terra Reeder, Whitney Reeder, Dustin Reeder, Samantha
Reeder (Amin), Chelsea Reeder (Kevin), Scott Reeder (Mikeala), Matthew
Boucher, Emily Boucher and her 12 great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Salisbury
Funeral Home, 506-372-4800 from where visitation will be held on
Friday, August 25th from 6:00pm –
8:00pm. A Funeral celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held on
Saturday, August 26th at 11:00am with the
Interment to follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
If desired, donations made to the Diabetes Association would
be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and donations may be
