On February 9, 2023, our beloved mother, Doreen Truthwaite of Winnipeg, age 76 passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Doreen is survived by her 4 beautiful children: Barry, Tammy, Jamie (Ray), and Jason (Shelly); her grand children Amanda (Rick), Raymond, Morgyn (Ryan), Michelle (Malcolm), Carl, Allen, Holly, Juliann (Ben), Mikyla, Kayden (Austin), and Allison; and one great-grand child, Braaka. She is also survived by her siblings Kenny, Violet (Darell), and Ricky (Anita)
Doreen was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, Ray Champagne (2013), and most recent partner, Brian Golden (2021), her parents Donny and Rose, and her sister Sharon.
Mom was most known as a fabulous seamstress. She spent many years working for Mr. Waxman from the Fabric Centre, making drapes. She also worked at Perth’s as a supervisor in the alterations department before starting her own business, “Doreen’s Alterations”. After running her business for several years, she decided she wanted some free time, and went to work for JMJ Fashions as a supervisor until she retired.
Friday nights were game nights playing crib with Babe & Jean, Pichenotte with Mo & Lorraine, and going to Pinefalls to visit friends.
Mom was proudly part of the Oakland Social Club for many years and was involved in bingos, “coffee break”, and the monthly birthday parties. Some of the many hobbies mom loved included knitting, beading, ceramics, and bowling.
Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
We would like to thank Middle Church Home for the loving care Mom recieved during her short stay. A special shout out to Nurse Tracy and Student Nurse Josh.
