It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Elizabeth Hynick, 78, of Lunenburg and formerly of Blue Rocks announces her passing on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born in Blockhouse, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Lottie (Langille) Lowe.
Doreen worked for many years at Kinley’s Drug Store in Lunenburg and was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and friends, baking, many camping trips and enjoying Bluegrass and Country and Western Events.
Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large, were so important to her. Doreen’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who knew and loved her.
Doreen is survived by her twin sister, Pauline (Douglas G. Corkum), Blockhouse, special nephew and niece, Ian Hillier, Blue Rocks, Nina Lucas, Chester and several other nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Greville.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. A gathering for family and close friends will be held at Doreen’s apartment in Lunenburg at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks.
